- A summertime experience.

Anne's this friend of mine with a young son Camlo who has had the good fortune to be fruitarian since birth. (that's Camlo, not Anne).. - Anne, like the rest of us grew up as best she could on cooked stodge. You know the meals, cow hide and chips and snotty cheesy pasta pies.

By the time we are old enough to talk and tell our guardians we want proper food, we are already addicted to the junk force fed us.

Well.. One Leicester morning some years ago, during a seminar, David Shelley (Author of "Food of Truth") successfully convinced Anne of the benefits of Raw Food, and from that day on, there was no stopping her.

Now a loving mother and positive seasoned fruitarian she has given numerous talks herself, including, last year (2001), a videoed televised interview.

Also last year(2001), she had this wonderful Melon experience.

Anne's into simplicity and seasonal fruits, and what better way to express that than through monodiets of inseasonal fruits. (I like that term "mono-diets", espescially appropriate here, as "monos" are monkeys in spanish).

Anyhow, last year, (2001), Anne, with her adequately cleansed system, was attracted to the appeal of a melon cure. (not the first time, as the year previously, she had also lived several months on melons alone).

This time, she started in mid spring, and continued for another 6 months later (187 days in all).

Well, to give you an idea of how she faired on this most cleansing of diets, this is what happened on day 47:

She took part in a 15 miles walkathon together with 4000 others, and came joint 1st in just over 3 hours.

The other in 1st place was a triathlon runner, so that should give an idea of how fast she was.. - and this without even really training for it!

Anne said to me afterwards, that had she not eaten a melon before the race, her timing would have been even faster, as she had to stop for a pee during the walk.
